New Interview on Tool of North America's Interactive Movies for the Apple iPad

[itvt] has just published an INTERVIEW WITH DUSTIN CALIF, head of digital content at Los Angeles-based interactive production company, Tool of North America. Callif discusses "Touching Stories," a free application for the Apple iPad that Tool developed in partnership with creative agency, Domani Studios.

HowTo.tv in Interactive Video Partnership with Ooyala

HowTo.tv, a London-based digital marketing agency specializing in interactive video, said Tuesday that it is partnering with online video platform provider, Ooyala, to offer its LinkTo.tv interactive video technology to the latter's customers (note: another London-based company, Quick.tv, made a similar announcement last week--see the article published on itvt.com, July 11th).

Discovery Taps Hive Media to Develop Facebook Social Game for "Deadliest Catch"

Hive Media, a San Francisco-based company that specializes in branded social games, says that it has been tapped by Discovery Communications to develop and produce a social game based on "Deadliest Catch," which is currently the highest-rated show on the Discovery Channel (note: the show, which is produced by Original Productions, is a documentary reality series that centers on the crews of crab fishing boats on the Bering Sea). The game is slated to be released in November on Facebook. The deal between the companies is for the North American market only, and was brokered on behalf of Discovery by its licensing agent, the Joester Loria Group.

Fox Taps Coincident TV to Power Interactive Video Player for "So You Think You Can Dance"

Fresh from receiving an Interactive Media Emmy nomination for the "Glee Superfan Experience," an interactive video player it created for Fox's primetime musical series, "Glee" (see the article published on itvt.com, July 8th), Coincident TV--a San Francisco-based start-up that earlier this year launched its "hypervideo" software suite, which it says combines online video, social media, Web links and commerce into a single immersive experience (see the article published on itvt.com, April 13th)--has been tapped by Fox to create a similar offering for the reality show, "So You Think You Can Dance" (SYTYCD).

DirecTV Teams with ESPN to Offer Interactive TV Coverage of British Open Golf Championship

DirecTV is teaming with ESPN to offer interactive TV coverage of the British Open Golf Championship. Dubbed the Open Championship Golf Experience, the coverage will be available (in HD) July 15th through 18th, and will center on a multiscreen "Mix" channel that will offer four video feeds: 1) ESPN's main network feed; 2) coverage of holes 1 and 18; 3) coverage of the 17th hole; and 4) "International View," a BBC-produced feed featuring commentary from the corporation.
