Canoe Ventures, the company tasked with implementing the US cable industry's plans for interactive and addressable advertising (note: its backers are Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox, Charter, Cablevision and Bright House), announced Wednesday that it has appointed John Redpath as SVP and general counsel.
According to Canoe, Redpath, who reports to its CEO, David Verklin, has over 30 years of experience and has spent most of his career at major media companies, including HBO and Time. He started at Canoe on January 25th. "We're pleased that John is joining Canoe's executive team," David Verklin said in a prepared statement. "John brings a wealth of experience and relationships that are critical to Canoe as we introduce new products, drive collaboration and roll out innovative technologies into the television ecosystem." (Note: Canoe Ventures is sponsoring EBIF Intensive, a one-day workshop event that [itvt] is organizing on March 5th, the day after The TV of Tomorrow Show. The event is designed to give interactive TV industry stakeholders--including broadcasters, programmers, advertisers/agencies, retailers, application developers, technology providers, and others--an opportunity to engage in dialog with Canoe Ventures and CableLabs, and marks the first time that those two organizations have participated in such a dialog-driven event. The event's goal is to enable participants to learn how to work with Canoe Ventures and CableLabs to realize their interactive TV roadmaps.)
