US cable-industry research, development and standardization body, CableLabs, is trumpeting the success of an Advanced Advertising Interop event it held, June 14th-18th, to prove interoperability, based on the SCTE-130 standard, across a number of advertising interfaces. The weeklong event was organized in partnership with SCTE DVS/Working Group 5, the SCTE committee charged with working on advanced advertising, and with Canoe Ventures, the company tasked with implementing the US cable industry's plans for interactive and addressable advertising.

Interactive TV and advanced advertising technology provider, OpenTV, on Tuesday unveiled a new campaign management solution designed specifically to serve the VOD advertising marketplace. Dubbed EclipsePlus/xG OnDemand and scheduled for beta release next month, the new solution--which OpenTV is demo'ing in its booth (1301) at the NCTA Cable Show in Los Angeles--is billed by the company as supporting the backoffice requirements to monetize dynamic VOD inventory such as short-form (pre-, mid- and post-rolls) and long-form (showcase) advertising.

Comcast Media Center (CMC) said Tuesday that its HITS AxIS service is now ready to support the commercial deployment of interactive TV services by cable operators. HITS AxIS--whose name stands for "Headend In The Sky Advanced Interactive Services," and which was developed in collaboration with Vidiom and TVWorks--is a centralized platform that operates on the NAS and DAC headend-management platforms and that is designed to facilitate the deployment and management of ETV/EBIF and OCAP/tru2way applications on cable systems serving small- to mid-sized markets.
