Comcast COO Says MSO Has Now Deployed EBIF in 12 Million Households in 30 Markets

During Comcast's conference call with financial analysts following the release of its Q4, 2009 results, Wednesday, CEO, Brian Roberts, and COO, Steve Burke, provided a brief update on the status of its interactive TV deployments and plans.

"We will...continue to invest in our network, extending our technical capabilities even further, more widely deploying EBIF technology, for instance, to support interactive TV and advertising," Roberts stated in his presentation. "And through our newly formed Comcast Labs we will focus on extending and integrating IP technology in order to improve the customer experience, accelerate the pace at which we introduce new products, and expand our cross-platform experiences."

Time Warner Cable Selects BigBand's SDV Solution to Free Up Bandwidth for HD VOD, Other Services

--Solution to Be Deployed in Operator's Los Angeles, New York City, Dallas Systems

Digital video networking specialist, BigBand Networks, said Wednesday that Time Warner Cable plans to deploy its switched digital video (SDV) solution to free up bandwidth for HD VOD, DOCSIS 3.0 and other new service and programming options in its Los Angeles, New York City and Dallas systems. "We have launched SDV in over 20 markets to date and know firsthand that, if we want to deploy new programming options for our customers, SDV is the fastest, most cost-effective method for our existing network," Kevin Leddy, Time Warner Cable's EVP of technology policy and product management, said in a prepared statement.
